BEHAVIOR:
Carter was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to him behavior in him previous home. His finder reports that he’s friendly and has been feeding him for a few months.

Fearful, will hiss and evade touching and handling. Not yet showing much food motivation. However, they are curious, showing some interest in toys, may slow blink a little when spoken to softly and slowly blinked at. Carter is the braver of the two, comes to the front of the cage to see what’s going on, while Kennedy mostly stays in the box during interactions (when left to themselves, they sprawl out together on a blanket, relaxed and comfy with each other.). Need time.

Absurdly adorable pair, Kennedy & Carter. Carter remains the bolder of the two. Both play with toys and enjoyed frozen tuna pops I offered. Still unsure about touching and humans in general, but making some progress. Would benefit by being in an experienced foster home for socialization. Update: Not fans of the wand toy with the bell at the end–too loud. They do enjoy batting small plush toys around and have shown

Good interaction today. Spent a fair amount of time chatting with them and slow blinking with kennel doors closed; they humor me and show interest, slow blinking some themselves. Got both to eat chicken out of my hand. Picked up and held both (a first for Kennedy today; Carter has consistently been the bolder, more receptive of the two); both hissed and squirmed and resisted, but I was able to hold both and pet; still not adoptions candidates yet. Both show interest in toys, mostly balls and small plush toys they can bat about. Nice interaction. They are truly adorable nuggets, remarkably clean, healthy for kittens have lived outdoors their entire lives.
Behavior Determination: Experience No Child
Carter tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.

Update: Not fans of the wand toy with the bell at the end–too loud. They do enjoy batting small plush toys around and have shown interest in a knitted rope with frayed ends. Carter still leads the way and Kennedy tends to follow him.
