Squinting with left eye? Flinched and backed away when attempted touch, started growling. 2/28/17 Diagnosed with URI and conjunctivitis, moved to quarantine. Hunched down at the back, stiff posture, eyes dilated. Flinched when door opened. Flattened ears, retreated from touch, and growled. Held strong eye contact throughout interaction. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Tried to flee, nervous, swatting, tried to bite ACTIVITY LEVEL: unable to assess VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: unable to assess RECOMMENDATIONS: _x_ Placement with a New Hope partner – Carrot Cake is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. This behavior may change once her present sickness is remedied. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is best at this point.

2/27/17 Hx: Feral cats – reportedly exposed to panleukopenia by another cat in the colony who tested positive. No diarrhea overnight, parvo test negative yesterday. S: In Freeman net for exam. Scruffed for limited exam. Tries to flee, yowled and hissed when scruffed for exam of face. O: BAR-H, BCS 5-6/9, MMs pink and moist EENT: Mild mucoid ocular discharge, mild mucoid nasal discharge. Clean ears. Severe gingivitis and gingival bleeding, clean adult teeth. H/L: NSR, NMA. Panting, quiet lung sounds. Abd: Tense, no masses palpated M/S/I: Amb x4. No skin lesions noted. UG: Female A: 1. URI and conjunctivitis 2. Pt came in with cats who had ear mites 3. Hx possible exposure to panleukopenia 4. Gingivitis and gingival bleeding – R/O URI vs. other cause Short-term prognosis: Fair SURGERY: Temporary waiver for URI. P: 1. Doxycycline 0.5 ml PO SID x10 days 2. Erythromycin OU BID x10 days if behavior permits 2. Ivermectin 0.08 ml sq today and in 14 days 3. Pulled blood for panleuk titer and swabbed for resp panel 1088
