**SAFE 08/11/16** GREENIE and CARINO want the same thing their litter mate, Kenny, was able to get—out of the ACC alive! That’s right, three 5-month-old kittens were taken to the ACC as strays, one of them has already survived the euth list, and tonight, GREENIE and CARINO are hoping someone steps up for them, as well. These sleek ebony kitties have EXPNOCHILD ratings because they are a tiny bit rattled at the ACC, but that’s just normal. If a person set out to design the perfect situation for scaring the crap out of animals, the resulting invention WOULD, IN FACT, BE THE ACC. A little TLC in a home setting where they feel safe, and GREENIE and CARINO should develop into awesome companions! Please find a FOSTER, ADOPTER, or NEW HOPE RESCUE to step up for these beauties tonight!

07/24/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Carino was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He was found wandering loose outside with two littermates. He was nervous around the finder and would attempt to flee. Upon intake, he was very tense, attempted to flee, and allows minimal handling. During his initial medical exam, he was very fearful and would flee if not watched, but allowed handling. Reaction to assessor: Carino becomes alert and focuses on the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Carino continues to look at the assessor with wide eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Carino becomes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Carino curls up and squeezes against the corner of the cage. He lowers his body and flinches when touched, but allows petting and begins to relax after some time. His eyes soften when petting continues, but when petting stops he becomes alert again and seems cautious of the environment. Reaction to being picked up: Carino becomes antsy and leaps out of the assessor’s hand to retreat back into his cage. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Carino tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
