Details on my behavior are…
KNOWN HISTORY: Cappucino was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Hisses in the carrier. Used a towel and cat muzzle for exam. Fought through the exam and growled, hissed, and tried to scratch ENRICHMENT NOTES: 10/11/17 Lying in back of kennel, body relaxed and ears forward. Raises butt and tail into the air when spoken to. She is tense when I visit her later, hissing and walking around her kennel with her tail down and ears tilted. Crouches down, then retreats through portal. She tolerates petting along her head and body while turning head to watch the bear-claw, body stiff and face tense. Ears are flattened. Needs more time to adjust. 10/12/17 Lying in center of kennel, body tense and ears tilted. Lifts rear and tail into the air as I approach, body low and tensed. She tolerates petting along her head and body while standing up and leaning in, ears remaining flat and face tense. Tail is pilo-erect at the base and she leans in with a tense body and turns her head to watch my hand as it passes along her back. Conflicted behaviors – needs more time to adjust. Ate all treats given. Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Cappucino comes forward slowly when the assessor approaches then leans forward to sniff. Reaction when softly spoken to: Cappucino’s ears tilt forward then he lip licks. Reaction to cage door opening: Cappucino hissed then quickly shifted away and retreated to the other side of the double kennel. Reaction to touch: Cappucino’s tail quivers and she grumbles when the assessor approaches her. The assessor stood still and waited for her to sniff and initiate attention first. Her tail sways back and forth increasingly and she gently rubs her body against his arm. She appreciates attention and allows soft pets on her head and along her body as long and you go slowly. After a few minutes of attention she starts to get overstimulated, vocalizes then quickly whips around and hisses. Her body tenses up and she stays focused on the assessor but slowly relaxes and goes back to soliciting attention. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Somewhat chatty CHARACTER TYPE: Bold Affectionate POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: Overstimulation Potential challenges comments: Cappucino is social and affectionate but appears to be easily overstimulated. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Cappucino becomes overstimulated. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance. BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: Experienced, adult only Behavior Asilomar TM – Treatable-Manageable RECOMMENDATIONS: None BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Cappucino solicits attention and tolerates petting but may be assertively demanding of attention or may play roughly. Due to Cappucino showing conflicting behaviors we feel that this cat will do best in an adult only home.
10/13/17 Behavior: Adult Only
