Exam Type BEHAVIOR
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 8/21/17- Subjective: Alert, hissing, spitting, runs away at any opportunity ENRICHMENT NOTES: 8/21/17 Curled up with sibling in litter box, eyes dilated, very tense posture. Started hissing when door opened. Hissed, spit, and repeatedly struck offered assess-a-hand. 8/22/17 Moved downstairs to holding. Curled up with sibling in litter box, wide-eyed, alert. Started growling when door opened, eyes became dilated, ears flattened. Hissed repeatedly when touched. Tolerated brief pets, then spat, struck, and hunched back in corner on top of sibling. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Camila remains tense, crouched position at the back of the cage. Reaction to cage door opening: Camila stiffens up, alert with eyes dilated with ears turned sideways flat. Reaction to touch: Camila began to hiss and distance increase towards the other side of the cage and when touched she stiffens up with no further interest. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Camila tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to her new home and family at her own pace.
