*** SAFE 05/10/16 *** CALI IS IN DESPERATE STRAITS TONIGHT!! This friendly, SPAYED, six year old was dumped back at the ACC where she was adopted from because she is DIABETIC…..Her original owner can no longer take care of her. And even though someone from the family or a friend contacted Diabetic Cats in Need, they never responded to DCIN and abandoned CALI here….As you may know, diabetic cats do not fare well ACC. Last night a sweet diabetic cat named HAPPY was killed even though someone to take her was found a half hour after the ACC’s cut off time….PLEASE DON’T LET THAT HAPPEN TO CALI TONIGHT!!….She has a lovely AVERAGE rating and while not feeling well now, WILL feel better once on insulin and with blood sugar management. IF YOU WANT TO FOSTER OR ADOPT CALI, let us know at [email protected]. We can put you in touch with a pulling rescue and also Diabetic Cats in Need who assist diabetic cat owners…….

05/07/16 20:05 Cali is a 6 year old spayed brown tabby who was adopted by owner from ACC. She is being surrendered into our facility due to owner no longer being able to continue care of his medical issues. She was diagnosed with Diabetes and her last visit to the vet was 6/26/16 by Pure Paws Veterinary Care. With strangers she is friendly and outgoing and played gentle with adults. She has lived with adults and is relaxed, affectionate and plays gentle. Has no experience with being around other cats or dogs. There is no known history of him biting another animal or person. Behavior is good. During car rides he is relaxed or sleeping. He does have a history of having litter box accidents which is rarely and she is both pooping and peeing outside of the box. This has been occurring less than a month, no vet has been seen for the issues but as per owner issue could be occurring when box isn’t cleaned. She has never been given a bath nor had his nails trimmed. He enjoys when his coat is being brushed and isn’t bothered when being picked up and held, being placed in a carrier or being disturbed when sleeping Cali is described as being friendly, affectionate and playful with a medium activity level that would do best in a calm home. Her favorite activity is to eat. She is indoors only and sleeps anywhere comfortable. She ate both wet and dry food Fancy or Purina at least 2 times a day. Her favorite treats is Turkey. She is litter box trained using a hooded box with clumping litter. She did scratch furniture within the home. During intake Cali was growling and hissing when counselor attempted to handle so assistance was needed from client to collar and take photograph after being placed in Den swatting and hissed. Client was able to scan (positive).
