***SAFE 05/24/17***SUPER SWEET ORANGE BOY NEEDS YOU!!!Meet Caleb: This handsome cat may be shy at first but is actually quite playful. He does not mind being brushed or picked up and put into a carrier. He has lived with one other cat and a child, and never had any problems with that. Currently, he could really use some TLC. He has a misaligned jaw from an old fracture, and may need a tooth removed because it is pressing on his palate. He also has a heart murmur that will need some monitoring. Can you help this guy find the care and love he deserves?

05/20/17 12:50 Basic Info: Caleb A1112584 is a male orange tabby DSH who was given to the owner as a gift 2yrs ago and is being surrendered along with his “sister” Cambrie A1112583 due to their owner moving to where pets aren’t allowed. They’ve never been to a veterinarian & currently Cambrie might be pregnant and Caleb might have a deformity/injury to his jaw. Socialization: Caleb is shy for a few minutes with strangers. He hasn’t been around dogs but was gentle, playful, relaxed/affectionate with the adults, Cambrie & an 8yr old in the home. Caleb hasn’t bitten/scratched any person or animal. Behavior: During car rides Caleb will be relaxed. He isn’t bothered by the following: being brushed or being put into a carrier. Caleb hasn’t been disturbed while sleeping/resting, bathed or had his nails trimmed. For a New Family to Know: Caleb is described as friendly, affectionate, playful & quiet with medium activity level. When the owner is home Caleb follows them around sometimes. He’s an indoor cat that sleeps on a cat bed, eats dry Friskies cat food 2x a day, uses an uncovered litter box with clumping litter within and scratches on the couch; he doesn’t have a scratching post. Intake Behavior: Caleb allowed all handling. He allowed to be collared & have his pictures taken. Caleb seemed a little tense/nervous as he had a low body posture but allowed to be positioned. He didn’t seem to mind being picked up/held and was placed into a kennel with ease.

A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide him with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Caleb tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
