***SAFE 09/30/16 *** ANOTHER CHANCE TONIGHT FOR A RESCUE FOR FIVE!! PLEASE MAKE IT COUNT FOR THEM!! ….This fearful quintet has probably been on the street for all of their respective lives. COFFEE, CAKE, PICKLE, PEBBLE & PISCES can all be saved if 5 people offered to foster one each!! COFFEE AND CAKE ARE ON THE PUBLIC ADOPTION SITE TONIGHT – BUT PICKLE, PEBBLE AND PISCES WILL NEED TO BE PULLED BY A RESCUE. But that’s all it takes….just one purrson for each cat – unless you can take two…..These little wanderers need time and patience to blossom and we know that the ACC would rather kill them than give them that time. BUT FOSTERS CAN GIVE THEM THAT TIME….Every night we beg here and yet we see more kittens in the GONE folder…..DON’T WAIT FOR SOMEONE ELSE, THERE IS ONLY YOU!! Save One Life tonight!! New Hope rescues need FOSTERS in the vicinity of NYC or within an hour of the rescue. If you need help contacting a NEW HOPE rescue, email us at [email protected] for rescue info!!

09/26/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cake was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He did not allow handling during intake and attempted to flee. He was tense and nervous during his initial medical exam, but allowed handling to be conducted. Reaction to assessor: Cake was resting upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Cake wakes and looks at the assessor with almond-shaped eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Cake remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Cake lowers his body and was hesitant of touch, but remains in place and allows petting on his head and body. His body was tense throughout the interaction, but he does not vocalize or display any further reaction. Behavior Determination: Experienced Cake tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
