***SAFE 04/10/16*** TRAPPED AND DUMPED – POOR CAI IS CONFUSED AND NEEDS A RESCUE ANGEL TONIGHT!! CAI was dumped as a stray in the ACC by most likely someone who just didn’t want him around. CAI solicited attention from the assessor but stress and fear has gotten the best of him. He can’t decide whether to be friendly and trust people or to avoid them altogether. He did get a good EXPNOCHILD rating which means this cat really wants to trust and interact with people but the crazy shelter environment is not going to give him that chance and he has until 12 noon Sunday to find someone to bail him out. CAI is a good boy and only 2 years old. He is also neutered which gives us the impression that he is someone’s lost pet. CAI will do just fine once he is safe and has time to decompress. GIVE CAI THAT CHANCE TONIGHT – CONTACT A RESCUE NOW TO PULL HIM TO SAFETY!!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Cai and at the time he was resting at the back of the cage curled up. Cai flickers his tail but allows petting. Cai leans in for attention and comes to front meowing softly. Reaction to assessor: Cai ignores the assessor and flickers his tail When spoken quietly: Cai ignores the assessor and flickers his tail Reaction to door cage opening: Cai finally looks at the assessor and continues to flicker his tail Reaction to touch: Cai allows petting with a slow approach and slowly comes to the front. Reaction to other cats : Cai hisses at other cats and will redirect Try picking cat up: Cai does not like to be picked up and low growls when held Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Cai was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment Cai was displaying indifferent behavior at first but slowly comes to the front of the kennel, interacts with the assessor and solicits attention. Cai does not like to be handled and will growl when picked. Cai is displaying behavior appropriate for an experienced cat owner with no children.
