Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cafe was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Cafe was curled up in his feral den at the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Cafe hisses from within the den but doesn’t come forward. Reaction to cage door opening: Cafe remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Cafe hisses with his ears bent flat and an arched back and quickly charges forward. He tries to swat, bite and currently doesn’t allow any handling. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Cafe is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat, bite and is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
