Behavior:
Butter lives with four adults and one enfant. There was also another cat in the home who butter was affectionate and playful with. Butter does not interact with the enfant and respect its space. Butter is receptive and seeks petting from the adults in the home. If visitors come to the home Butter will greet them. Butter is an indoor cat who uses an open litter box with clay litter. Butter has been exposed to dogs visiting the home and will flee for them
Reaction to assessor: Butter comes to the front of the cage soliciting attention
When spoken quietly: Butter stays at front and continues soliciting attention
Reaction to door cage opening: Butter remains soft & relaxed
Reaction to touch: Butter solicits petting and attention
Try picking cat up: Butter does not like to be picked up and will to avoid it but once being held she calm down
Behavior Determination: Average
At the time of the assessment she was displaying friendly behavior, comes to the front of the kennel, interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention and tolerates all petting. Butter is displaying behavior appropriate for a new cat owner.

Butter is a 1 year and 6 month old torbie with white domestic shorthair cat who is being surrendered because the owner is having a baby. Butter has been with the family over 1 year.
Butter lives with 4 adults and 1 enfant. There was also another cat in the home who butter is affectionate and playful with. Butter does not interact with the enfant and respect its space. Butter is receptive and seeks petting from the adults in the home. If visitors come to the home Butter will greet them. Butter is an indoor cat who uses an open litter box with clay litter. Butter has been exposed to dogs visiting the home and will flee for this.
Butter will tolerate a bath and has not yet had nail trim. Butter enjoys being picked up and brushed as well. Butter does not mind riding in a carrier and a car ride.
Butter plays swat and chase with little balls and also enjoy wrestling play with the other cat in the home. Butter has a vertical scratching post made of cardboard which she did not use. Butter will scratch walls in the home. When the family is home she likes to be where they are. When home alone Butter is well behaved. Butter eats both wet and dry food.
Upon intake Butter was shy but receptive to introduction. Butter was slightly tense but allowed all handling and was responsive re-assurance. Counselor was able to scan for microchip (negative) collar and photograph. Butter was slightly resistant to being placed in a carrier.
