BUTCH – A1070457
Safe - 4-24-2016 Staten Island Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
**SAFE 04/24/16**SECOND CHANCE FOR BODACIOUS BUTCH!!….LAP CAT! That’s right, cushy BUTCH was “usually found sitting on her previous owners lap,” according to HIS surrender notes—yeah, the ACC screwed the gender up in their notes, what else is new? BUTCH is a NEUTERED 5-year-old boy who was an indoors-only cat, a cat who hid when he felt uncertain and scratched the rug because he didn’t have anything else. There is nowhere to hide at the ACC, and the next person who lifts Butch out of his cage could very well be the same person who is going to kill him. Why? Why should this shy, sweet boy be brutally murdered, simply because his former owner decided their “personal problems” outweighed Butch’s desire to live? This boy can be adopted by someone who reserves him online tonight, he can be foster/adopted through a New Hope rescue group, but all of that good stuff has got to happen TONIGHT! Tomorrow after lunch, it will be too late. Advocate widely for Butch, tonight!

04/16/16 09:20 Basic Information: Butch is a 5 year old male domestic short haired cat that has no past or current medical issue that the owner is aware of. Socialization: Around strangers, Butch is shy for a few days but when comfortable, will solicit attention. He has never been around children, dogs, or other cats before so his behavior is unknown. With adults, he plays in a gentle respectful manner. He has never bitten another person or animal before. Behavior: Butch is said to hide in fear in the home when uncomfortable. he will not exhibit any signs of aggression however but will distance himself. In the car ride, Butch defecated and urinated in his carrier and was letting out large cries/meows. He has no litter box issues that the previous owner is aware of. No grooming agents were ever applied to Butch so it is unsure how he will react. He is not bothered if disturbed while sleeping or if he is picked up and held. For a New Family to Know: Butch is described as friendly and shy with a medium activity level. He enjoys wand toys in particular and was kept indoors only. He was usually found sitting on her previous owners lap. When in the home, Butch is the type to keep to himself. He was fed both wet and dry food of any brand. He used an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. It is recommended to provide Butch with a scratching post because he was seen from time to time scratching on the rugs in the home.
