BUSTELO – A1088281
Safe - 9-10-2016 Brooklyn
***SAFE 09/10/16*** SECOND CHANCE!! …..A staff member write: Bustelo is a very handsome 6 year old cat looking for his forever home. He’s a little chunky and has a whole lot of love. All he wants is your constant love and affectionate…and maybe some treats too! He’s a total lovebug with that will rub up against your legs and cuddle next to you on the couch. BUSTELO WAS ABANDONED BY PREVIOUS OWNER…BUT DID GIVE HIM GREAT BACKGROUND INFORMATION. So nice that they gave him shining reviews but then ABANDONED the 6 year old, already NEUTERED guy. Here’s something interesting in the notes…the previous owner said, “He will urinate outside the litter box if it is full!!”…. Who out there WOULD DO THE SAME IF THEIR TOILET WAS OVERFLOWING? Maybe not literally, but you get the point. It causes one to think they may be why they abandoned poor BUSTELO! If only they had any sense to just take him to a vet…aside from the filthy litterbox matter, he could have a UTI. But, they chose to add to the population of ignorant and selfish people who would rather dump their pet than resolve the problem! Offer to FOSTER OR ADOPT this sweet guy, who will need an EXPERIENCED new owner, but he’s got a lot of love to GIVE!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Bustelo is friendly around strangers and has spent time with children and was respectful of them. He doesn’t play with children of adults and has never been around other cats. He has been around large dogs and is relaxed around them. His owners report that he has litter box accidents and might pee outside if the litter box is full, but this rarely happens. He doesn’t mind being picked up and held or being placed in carrier. Bustelo is described as independent with a medium activity level. He enjoys playing with his catnip toys and likes to follow the owners around the house. Reaction to assessor: Bustelo was at the front rubbing up against the kennel door. Reaction when softly spoken to: Bustelo rolls over on his side and reaches out with paws. Reaction to cage door opening: Bustelo is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Bustelo sniffs the assessor’s hand and allows petting all over his body. He rubs against the assessor’s hand and his tail sways back and forth the more you interact with him. Reaction to being picked up: Bustello was tense and started to struggle when held. He low growls and tried to turn around and nip the assessor’s hand. When placed down he came back to the front and continued to solicit attention. Behavior Determination: Experience Bustelo may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
