11/13/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
11/13/16 Bugatti was brought to us as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in a previous home. Reaction to assessor: Bugatti was laying at front of cage, wide eyes, body posture relaxed, but tail thrashing back and forth. He made some eye contact, but mostly watched his surroundings. Reaction when softly spoken to: Bugatti remained sprawled out, body relaxed but tail thrashing back and forth, reached a paw out through cage door, meowed a bit, made some eye contact but also continued to survey the room. Reaction when cage door opened: Bugatti remained sprawled out, his extended paw held onto the cage door, didn’t get up, mostly kept head down, didn’t make eye contact, tail continued to thrash back and forth. Reaction to touch: Bugatti allowed head rubs and soft passes over his body. He stood up with the petting, tense body posture, pushed head into the assessor’s hands to solicit more attention, always remained right at front of cage and focused his wide eyes primarily on the room and not the assessor. His tail continued to thrash back and forth. Reaction to pick up: Assessor was able to pick up and hold Bugatti, although he wanted to get down quickly. After he was returned to the cage, Bugatti remained at the front, body tense, tail thrashing and he growled once. He did allow further petting, however, but was tense. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Bugatti tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
