Hello, my name is Buddy. My animal id is #7806. I am a desexed male snow tabby cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks i am about 15 years 1 weeks old. – P

Moderate serous nasal discharge noted on rounds. Move to isolation, start doxycycline 1.2 ml PO SID x10 days.
DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: Reported 15 years – exam is consistent with this Microchip noted on Intake? Scanned neg on intake – MC was placed History : Owner surrender. No health problems reported. Last saw a vet last year. Subjective: On Kuranda bed in kennel, staring at me. Does not get down or come say hi. Observed Behavior – Allows brief exam of head, but then growls and becomes tense. A towel was used to help restrain pt for the rest of the exam. Pt growled throughout the exam and smacked his paw heavily against the kennel during abd palpation. Objective BAR-H, MMs pink and moist, BCS 6/9 EENT: Eyes clear, mild waxy discharge AU. Mild serous nasal discharge. Oral Exam: Severe tartar accumulation and gingivitis, especially on maxillary molars. PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Slightly tense, no masses palpated U/G: Reported male neutered – unable to confirm due to behavior MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Did not visualize Assessment: 1. Dental disease 2. URI 3. Geriatric Prognosis: Good Plan: 1. On treatment with doxycycline for URI – continue this 2. Recommend dental cleaning in near future! 1088

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Allows minimal handling, hissing when first aproached but calms when petting until restraint is used then flips on back and bunny kicks ENRICHMENT NOTES: None Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Buddy remains tense, crouched position at the back during the approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Buddy remains immobile in place. Reaction to cage door opening: Buddy’s eyes remain wide open, ears erect and forward. Reaction to touch: Buddy allows the touch and slowly blinks while lip licking in place with no further interest during the stroke. Reaction to being picked up: Unable to perform due to behavior.
