12/06/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bucky was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. His finder was able to place him into a cat carrier and bring him to the care center. He had a tense and stiff body upon intake, retreating from extended hand and displaying distance-increasing behaviors. He also displayed the same behaviors during his initial medical exam. Reaction to assessor: Bucky was resting by the front, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Bucky sniffs around and begins to purr lightly. Reaction to cage door opening: Bucky gets up and pokes his head out of the opening to look around. Reaction to touch: Bucky was a bit hesitant, but sniffs the assessor’s hand. He pushes his head against the assessor’s hand, but becomes tense when touched on his body. He whines after and nips the hand, but will head-butt after and continues to rub against the hand. He does not seem to mind petting on his head, but will whine and nip each time he’s touched on his body. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Bucky tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may dislike being touched on certain areas of his body. He may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
