***SAFE 06/05/17 *** VET CARE ASAP! Bubble Boy really is such a gentle, sweetheart of a kitty! He leaned in for head butts, cheek rubs, and seemed to really enjoy being petted and receiving attention (kneading paws don’t lie!). This friendly cutie needs follow up medical care for his vestibular disease, ear mites, and ear infection.

KNOWN HISTORY: Bubble Boy was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on his behavior in his previous home. His finder reports they see him in their neighborhood quite often and they feed him on a regular basis. They noticed he was not seen for a couple of days, and when they saw him again he was not able to walk on his hind legs. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – allows handling/ear cleaning, no feral behavior EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Bubbly Boy was lying down, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Bubble Boy looks at the assessor and starts to knead with his paw. Reaction to cage door opening: Bubble Boy remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Bubble Boy sniffs the assessor’s hand and accepts petting. He warms up quickly and wobbles closer to the assessor, leaning in and purring when petted. Reaction to being picked up: Bubble Boy was calm and allows handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Social, Calm, Sweet BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Bubbly Boy interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.

Assessment: otitis interna/vestibular disease secondary to ear mites and chronic infection Plan: gave mometamax once AU, cleaned ears–AS too stenotic for deep otic exam. gave first dose Baytril 22.7mg/ml 1.1ml sq rx baytril daily, tresaderm au bid revolution given Prognosis: fair. vestibular disease usually improves, but head tilt may remain. recc NH placement.
