10/20/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Per his previous owner, Brook was surrendered after scratching her on more than one occasion, without provocation. The owner had Brook for less than two weeks, having taken him from a family friend, who herself had only had him for “several months.” It is unknown where Brook had been living prior to this, so we cannot speak to his behavior in any previous home The owner said Brook had never exhibited any unwanted behavior prior to taking her home, which consisted of two adults. Reaction to assessor: Brook was curled lying on his blanket, quietly, with soft eyes and posture. Reaction when softly spoken to: Brook raises up, stretches and comes to the front of cage. He had soft eyes and body posture. He appeared friendly and curious. Reaction to cage door opening: Brook comes right to the front to meet assessor, curious. He appears relaxed, but shows interest in getting out to explore. Reaction to touch: Brook allows all petting, leans in for more, stays right at front by assessor. Tail begins to twitch. Reaction to pick-up: Brook allows pick up, but quickly becomes upset with being held, tail twitching, and wants to be put down. Remains uneasy after being placed back in his cage and less tolerant of attention. Behavior Determination: Experience No Children Brook tolerates attention and petting, but may not tolerate being picked up. He may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be a little more independent. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
