Behavior
Bran was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He was hissing upon intake, but allowed handling. Although he was tense during his initial medical exam, he tolerated all handling.
Reaction to Assessor: Bran was calm and relaxed by the front of the cage.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Bran appears tense, but sniffs around.
Reaction to cage door opening: Bran becomes alert, but remains motionless.
Reaction to touch: Bran’s ears bend flat against his head, but he remains immobile during petting. He accepts stroke on his head and body, but starts to shake and seems unsure.
Reaction to being picked up: Bran is a bit tense during pick up, but remains calm when held. He is wary of his surroundings and has wide eyes, looking around. When placed back into the kennel, he stiffly retreats to the back of the kennel and blinks. His ears bend sideways whenever he is spoken to softly.
Placement Determination: Experience No Child
Bran tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may need time to warm up to his or her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
