Safe - 7-2-2017 Brooklyn Rescue: Feline Rescue of SI Please honor your pledges: http://felinerescueofstatenisland.org/donation/
***SAFE 07/02/17***A volunteer writes: When I first met Bowie she seemed a bit overwhelmed by the shelter. With a little patience, however, I was able to pet her and interact. She is a sweet, gentle little soul who will need a very special, patient person who will give her the forever home she deserves so she can bloom and thrive. I think she would do best in a quiet, cozy household where she feels safe and loved.

06/27/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Bowie was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Shaking. Allows exam ENRICHMENT NOTES: 06/22/17 Lying in back of kennel with a low body. Tolerates petting with a tense body and ears tilted as he looks around the room. Needs more time to adjust. 06/25/17 Lying in cardboard bed with a low, tense body and ears flat. Makes eye contact when spoken to. She remains in her bed and tolerates gentle petting along her head and body, turning her head to watch my hand when it passes along her body. Sniffs treats I place by her but doesn’t eat them. Needs more time to adjust. 06/27/17 Lying down against the back wall of the kennel. Alert, watching the assessor with wide eyes. Her ears bend flat and she lowers her head when the cage door opened. She curls up tight and she lip licks when I extended my hand out. Very tense body. Her eyes close when touched and she doesn’t seem open to interacting. After a couple minutes of talking to her she started to open up. Her weight shifted and she leaned against my hand allowing rubs on her head and cheeks. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced, adult home only – Bowie tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
