Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bookie was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Her finder states that she was living in her garage for the past 3 weeks and was fearful but allowed petting. Reaction to assessor: Bookie was shaking in the back and her eyes were focused on the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Bookie’s ears slowly bend flat and she turns her head away from contact. Reaction to cage door opening: Bookie remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Bookie leans away at first and is hesitant of contact. She slowly leans in for rubs but has a tense body when pet. After a few soft passes she lip licks and lowers her head into her blanket trying to avoid contact. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Bookie tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his or her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
