Hello, my name is Bobbie. My animal id is #11188. I am a desexed female black cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 10 years old. P-
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 30-Oct-2017, with the surrender reason stated as animal health – cannot afford vet bill.
Bobbie is at risk due to her medical condition. She has a mass that will require a fine needle aspirate to determine treatment and prognosis. There are no know behavior concerns for Bobbie at this time.

[DVM Intake] DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 10 yo Microchip noted on Intake? 0A102D6F7A History : O surrender. O said she initially saw mass on left shoulder this past July, and it got progressively bigger. A few days ago, the mass popped and bled a little. Subjective: BAR, curious, friendly, very good and tolerant for medical handling. Observed Behavior – Evidence of Cruelty seen – n Evidence of Trauma seen – n Objective T = P = 120 R = 36 BCS 6/9 EENT: dried mucoid discharge OU, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted, no c/s Oral Exam: mild dental calculus and gingivitis PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: spayed female, no MGTs, no vulvar discharge MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, healthy hair coat. Very large mass on left scapula, diameter ~ 4-5 inches, semi-firm and indentable. Center of mass appeared erythematous, recent signs of bleeding with a scabbed area. CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: normal externally Assessment approx. 10 yo FS DSH Mass left shoulder — r/o cyst vs abscess vs neoplasia vs other Prognosis: fair depending on definitive diagnosis of mass Plan: Aspirated mass — filled with serosanguinous fluid, mass continued to drain on its own but not fully convenia 8mg/kg SQ once simbadol 0.24mg/kg SQ SID x 3d lance mass and flush out with sterile saline vet rechecks to monitor if mass/cyst resolves
Hx: Mass on right shoulder that has been there since July, just recently “popped” and started bleeding. Serosanguinous fluid was S: Alert, meows, allows handling O: BAR-H, BCS 6/9, MMs pink EENT: Mild yellow crusts OU, mild black discharge AU, severe tartar H/L: NSR, NMA Abd: Soft, nonpainful M/S/I: Large semifirm mass on right shoulder, appears to be attached to the caudal rim or dorsal spinous process of the right shoulder blade. The mass is leaking serous fluid in 2 spots. No other lesions noted. A: Mass on right shoulder – R/O cyst vs. soft tissue sarcoma vs. carcinoma vs. abscess vs. other P: Recommend further aspiration, ultimately may need biopsy 1088

Upon intake, Bobbie allowed counselor to pet but was very skittish and hid in the back of the carrier. Did not collar or handle due to large mass.

She was last at the vet last year for vaccinations.
Previously lived with:: 3 adults and 1 cat
How is this cat around strangers?: Bobbie is shy for a dew days when people come to the home that she doesn’t know. She will stay in previous owners bedroom. She does not play with adults.
How is this cat around children?: Bobbie is relaxed and affectionate with children that she has been around. She will allow them to pet her but she will not play with them.
How is this cat around other cats?: Bobbie does not like other cats she will hiss and swat at them when they are around.
How is this cat around dogs?: Bobbie will hide when dogs are around her. She does not play with them.
Behavior Notes: Bobbie will scratch the couch and meows and cried during car rides. Previous has never given Bobbie a bath or trimmed the nails. She enjoys getting brushed and being picked up and held. She isn’t bothered when disturbed wile sleeping.
Bite history:: Bobbie has never bitten another animal or person.

Medical Notes: Bobbie came in with a large mass on left shoulder and discharge from left eye.
For a New Family to Know: Bobbie is a friendly, affectionate, mellow cat that has a low activity level. Previous owners loved how affectionate she was. She loves to sleep and will sit on you when you are home. She is indoors only and will sleep with owner. Bobbie eats meow mix dry food twice a day. She is litter box trained and used a covered litter box with clumping litter. She has a carpet scratching post but will not use it.

Reaction when softly spoken to:: Bobbie looks at the assessor and rolls over, looking at the assessor with soft eyes while upside down.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Bobbie remains soft and relaxed.
Reaction to touch:: Bobbie accepts petting and leans in for cheek and chin rubs. She rolls over again and begins to purr, allowing petting all over her body.
Reaction to being picked up:: Bobbie remains calm and allows handling.
