Blanco came to the shelter surrendered by an owner who describes him as being fearful with a medium activity level that enjoys being petted. Upon intake, Blanco did not allow handling.
Reaction to assessor: Blanco approaches, body relaxed and meows.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Blanco stays in the front soliciting attention and rubbing on door.
Reaction to cage door opening: Blanco is soft and relaxed.
Reaction to touch: Blanco solicits petting and attention.
Reaction to pick up: Blanco is tolerant of this type of handling.
Placement Determination: Experience No Child
Blanco approaches the assessor, solicits petting and allows handling, but did show some concerning behavior by attempting to exit the cage during the assessment. When the assessor stopped Blanco from exiting, Blanco hissed. Blanco may have some behavioral issues that will need to be addressed in the home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
