Hello, my name is Bianco. My animal id is #15358. I am a desexed male gray cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 3 years 1 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 04-Dec-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person health – allergies.

Bianco is at risk for medical reasons, having been diagnosed with Upper Respiratory Infection, which is contagious to other cats. behaviorally we have no concerns for Bianco, who we believe would be suitable for most homes.

Upon intake, Bianco had a stiff body but allowed counselor to pick him up and take him out. He was trembling and sat still for intake photo. He allowed counselor to pick him up and place him in the carrier.

Basic Information:: bianco is a neutered male young cat. There are no injuries or health concerns according to the owner. The last time he went to the vet was in the summer.
Previously lived with:: one toddler, two adults, one cat
How is this cat around strangers?: He is shy for a few minutes but will eventually warm up and lets you pet him.
How is this cat around children?: He has lived with a 2 year old and was relaxed, respectful with them. He plays gentle with the child.
How is this cat around other cats?: He lived with a female cat around the same age and was relaxed and respectful with her. They did not interact much.
How is this cat around dogs?: He has never been around dogs so behavior is unknown.
Behavior Notes: there is no behavior issues owner is concerned about.

For a New Family to Know: Owner has never tried bathing, trimming of nails. He isnt bothered with pick up and holding and isnt bothered going into carrier. He is described as friendly, affectionate, mellow, and quiet. He plays with mice and balls with sound. He loves tuna and friskies. He uses a uncovered litterbox with clumping litter. He uses a scratching post made with wood and carpet

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior -calm, allows exam
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 12/5/17 Asleep in top cubby, woke when door opened. Lay in place, soft posture, eyes dilated. Sniffed hand, leaned away from pets, minor lip licking. Sprayed thunderease. 12/6/17 Crouched towards back of top cubby, tense, eyes dilated. Stayed hunched in place when door opened. Sniffed hand, tolerated pets, but leaned away, remained wary. Showed no interest in treats. Sprayed thunderease.
Cage Condition:: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:: Bianco looks tense, crouched position with head up hiding in his cage cubby during the approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Bianco seems unsure, looking around with eyes wide open, ears erect and forward.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Bianco slowly engages, but rushed out of one cubby to hide into the other.
Reaction to touch:: Bianco was hesitant, but warms up after a few strokes and began to head bunt the assessor’s hand while purring in place.
Reaction to being picked up:: He becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage.
