Hello, my name is Berlioz. My animal id is #10415. I am a male gray cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 3 years old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 21-Oct-2017.
Berlioz 10415 is at risk for a long bone fracture. Behaviorally, he is social and appreciates petting and attention. We recommend an adopter with an average amount of cat experience.

SURGERY IS TEMPORARILY WAIVED FROM ACC DUE TO FRACTURE
Presented with LH lameness on intake; sedated for radiographs Hind limb radiographs-complete fracture of proximal femur and mid-distal tibia/fibula; fracture of L body of pubis and L SI luxation with mild displacement, pelvic canal appears intact S/O -normal urination in box -good appetite -BAR, very affectionate and docile; allows all handling -mm pk, moist; CRT <2 sec -no nasal discharge or sneezing -OU: open and clear -eupnic, heart/lungs WNL -soft abdomen -LH, non weight bearing lameness; palpable instability of tibia/fibula and proximal femur A LH-complete femoral fx and tibia/fracture fx Pelvic fractures with minimal displacement P Simbadol 0.5 ml SQ SID Onsior 0.4 ml SQ SID x 3 days Recommend orthopedic consult ASAP after placement, consider surgical stabilization vs amputation for LH fractures; pelvic fracture may be okay to treat conservatively as he is appears to be ambulating well on 3 limbs today
Hx fractured left femur, tib/fib and pelvis with minimal collapse of the pelvic canal. Presented 10/22/17. Today pt is meowing, walking around on all four legs (decreased weight bearing on left hind), willing to jump up and down. Escaped his kennel and hid under a bank of cages! Continue Simbadol and Onsior. Monitor defecation to ensure pt does not have pain or tenesmus. 1088
As per DVM 1382, sedated with 0.2mL ketamine, 0.2mL dexdomitor, and 0.2mL Butorphanol. Rads were taken of LHL with multiple fx seen to tib/fib and femur. 0.2mL Antiseden given IM to reverse dexdomitor. Gave 150ml SQ Sodium Chloride gave 0.6mL Simbadol and 0.45mL onsior for pain gave 0.4mL cerenia

Upon intake, Berlioz allowed counselor to touch but tried to flee once out of carrier. Did not collar and took picture inside carrier due to him trying to flee.

Medical Notes: Berlioz came in with an injured left hind leg. He does not put pressure on it.
KNOWN HISTORY:: Berlioz was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on their behavior history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Berlioz allowed counselor to touch but tried to flee once out of carrier.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Very affectionate and docile; allows all handling.

Reaction to assessor:: Berlioz was lying down, calm and relaxed.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Berlioz looks at the assessor with almond-shaped eyes, meows softly, and extends his right paw.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Berlioz remains soft and relaxed.
Reaction to touch:: Berlioz leans his head forward and accepts petting. He leans in for cheek rubs, rolls over, and begins to purr.
Reaction to being picked up:: Did not attempt due to medical condition.
