08/17/17 21:20 Animal’s appearance – B’Elanna appeared clean and of healthy weight. Animal’s demeanor with you – B’Elanna allowed handling but was nervous and timid. She moved away when I attempted to touch her and her pupils were dilated. Client stated that they currently moved into a new apartment and B’Elanna along with another cat and a rabbit were left behind in the apartment. Due to the client having a dog, she was unable to keep them and decided to bring them to SIACC.

KNOWN HISTORY: B’elanna was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: friendly EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: B’elanna was laying in the back of her kennel relaxing. Reaction when softly spoken to: B’elanna lip licks and makes eye contact with assessor but continues to relax. Reaction to cage door opening: B’elanna comes to the front of her kennel and head butts assessor. Reaction to touch: B’elanna leans in for chin rubs and lays on her side exposing her belly. B’elanna allows petting all over. Reaction to being picked up: B’elanna’s allows to be picked up but her body becomes tense. B’elanna starts to meow and leaps back into her kennel. She continues to solicit attention and lean in for chin rubs. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back, Lively VOCAL: Somewhat chatty CHARACTER TYPE: Sweet, Affectionate, Social BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average-B’elanna interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting.This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
