BEATRICE – A1102296 – 12 Years Old, Spayed, Domestic Short Hair, Black, OS, 18 pounds
Owner Profile:
BASIC INFO
Beatrice is a 12 year old spayed DSH cat. She was adopted at 6-7 years old from a city shelter in MD, with another cat, after their owner passed away. She has since been shuffled back and forth between 3 owners. Her current owner has lived with her for most of the past 5-6 years and adores her but has to re-home her due to frequent travel and a family member’s severe allergies. Bea’s owner reports that she is currently obese, at 18 pounds, likely because she was free-fed in her previous home. She has dandruff and arthritis but is otherwise healthy and doesn’t have diabetes.
SOCIALIZATION
Beatrice is friendly, outgoing, and affectionate with strangers. She solicits attention and rubs against them. A loud, active, 2 year old child visited and she was nervous and hid from him. Bea lived with a female cat in the past. They avoided each other and occasionally growled and swatted each other but didn’t bite or scratch. Bea hasn’t bit or scratched anyone.
BEHAVIOR
Beatrice loves being brushed every night. She doesn’t mind being picked up, woken up, or put in a carrier. Beatrice was nervous and cried but was tolerant during baths.
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW
Beatrice’s family describes her as friendly, affectionate, mellow, and low energy. She follows her family everywhere and rubs against them. She persists and head-butt’s them if they are too busy to pet her. She likes to sit in their laps and sleep with them. She plays with puzzle toys with food. Her family is most impressed by her adaptability. Every time they take her to someone’s house, bring her to a new home, or move homes with her, she enters, walks where she pleases, and sprawls out in the middle of the floor, taking no time to make herself at home.
Beatrice lived inside and slept with her owners or in cardboard boxes (such as her castle) and on plastic bags. She eats dry cat food and gets treats and vitamins for her joints. Beatrice used an open litterbox with Dr. Elsey’s Cat Attract litter. When this was unavailable, her family got her Fragrance-free light-weight Tidy Cats clumping litter. They think she is uncomfortable with scented litter. They scoop her box twice per day. She will potty on the floor in the kitchen if there are more than 2 messes in the litterbox. Beatrice scratches a horizontal cardboard scratching pad and didn’t scratch furniture.
