***SAFE 08/23/17*** WHAT’S SUMMER WITHOUT A BEACH? BEACH WOULD LOVE TO WARM YOUR LAP BUT NEEDS RESCUE NOW!! A volunteer writes: When I met Beach he was timid! He was hiding in his litter box and when he looked at me with those beautiful eyes and my heart just broke! I spent some time with him, talking to him gently and he finally let me pet him. He seemed to enjoy it, but he needs more time to get comfortable. He is a sweet lovely little gentleman who will need a very special and experienced person to make him feel safe and give him the forever home he deserves!
BEACH was brought into the ACC with 2 other cats as strays. Beach allowed all handling upon examination. Please consider making BEACH part of your family today. MUST BE RESERVED BY NOON!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Beach was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on his behavior in his previous home. He was very nervous during intake and kept trying to hide his face. He allowed the counselor to handle him throughout the intake process, however. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – Tense, allowed all handling, no attempts to flee ENRICHMENT NOTES: 08/04/17 At the back of the cage, lying down completely flat in his litter box. Sinks lower when the door opens, curls up to appear smaller. He lip licks and tolerates petting on his head and body. Timid but starts to relax and raises his back when rubbed. He enjoys temptation treats, devoured them quickly. Just needs some time to adjust. 08/06/17 Lying in litterbox with a low body, tail wrapped around him. He sniffs my hand hesitantly as I reach forward and tolerates petting along his head and body, ears tilting as he turns his head to watch my hand. Body is tense. Not interested in treats today. Needs more time to adjust EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Beach was lying down in his litter box, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Beach looks at the assessor and blinks softly. Reaction to cage door opening: Beach becomes alert, but remains in place. Reaction to touch: Beach sniffs the assessor’s hand and was hesitant of contact, but he accepts petting and his body relaxes slightly. He focuses on the assessor’s hand when touched along his body, but seems to appreciate cheek rubs. He doesn’t seem to mind petting, but seems wary of his surroundings. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Calm RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parents – Beach tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may need time to warm up to his new home and family. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
