VC – MONITOR ABSCESS VENTRAL NECK
S/O: Cat is QAR
Offered wet and dry food – does not seem interested in either
Appears to have small amount of mucopurulent nasal discharge coming from right nostril today
Flushed abscess, still draining blood-tinged purulent debris, and today edges of wound appear necrotic
Amb x 4, but appeared wobbly in cage
A: Abscess, ventral neck, open and draining, edges necrotic and may begin to slough
P: On inj and oral abx as well as pain meds. Continue to monitor and flush abscess, but recommend rescue placement ASAP as wound will need intensive management if wound begins sloughing
PROGNOSIS:

Sedated with 0.2cc Telazol IM to clip/clean abscess ventral neck
BCS 5-6/9
EENT – appears to have blepharitis OU with hyperpigmented mass at medial canthus OS and open wound at medial canthus OD, purulent ocular discharge, corneal scar OS?; mild ceruminous debris AU; dark crusts around nares; large ruptured abscess ventral neck draining blood-tinged purulent debris, skin is very thin
Grade 3/4 dental dz
Heart/lungs auscult wnl
Abdomen palpates wnl
DECLAWED ALL 4 PAWS
Coat – some small mats, appears to have been groomed (clipped) within past few months
A: Abscess ventral neck, blepharitis with eyelid masses, moderate-severe dental dz
P: Gave 0.26cc Baytril 100 SQ – continue SID x 5d
Gave 0.21cc buprenorphine 0.5mg/mL IM – continue BID x 3d
Start Amoxi/Clav 45.7 mg/mL – 1.6mLs PO q12h x 10d
Applied erythromycin OU – continue BID x 10d
Recheck 6/30, 7/5, and 7/9
