KNOWN HISTORY: Banana was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He was very stressed during intake and was hissing and swatting inside his carrier. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Nervous, allowed handling ENRICHMENT NOTES: 04/23/17 Lying crouched in back of kennel with very wide eyes. Watches me as I approach – he moves his head forward slightly to sniff my hand and settles back, looking out into the room. He tolerates touch along his head and body with wide eyes, licking his lips and backing away. Not interested in treats today. Needs more time to adjust. VALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Banana was looking around with wide eyes, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Banana makes eye contact, but his ears tilt forward and sideways and he appears to be listening to noise outside of the room. Reaction to cage door opening: Banana remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Banana sniffs the assessor’s hand and accepts petting. He doesn’t show much of a reaction, but will lean in for cheek and chin rubs. After a moment, he approaches the front and looks around. Reaction to being picked up: Banana is a bit tense during pick up, but allows handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid, Sweet, Calm BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Banana interacts with the Assessor, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
