05/22/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/22/17 16:24 Basic Info: Bambi A1112792 is a spayed female gray tabby & white DSH who was given to the owner by the previous owner in front of our shelter 3mths ago and is being surrendered due to her unpredictable behavior. She was last seen by a veterinarian 2mths ago & currently has no known health issues/injuries. Socialization: Bambi will run at their feet/legs or she hides. She hasn’t been around other animals but would hide from the 5, 7 & 9y olds however was playful (rough) & relaxed/affectionate with the adults at times. Bambi has bitten a couple of adults and the 7yr old (once this morning and another time last month). Behavior: During car rides Bambi will be relaxed. She hasn’t been disturbed while sleeping/resting, had her nails trimmed or been bathed. Bambi only likes to be pet/held when she comes to you for it and will go into a carrier on her own if it’s dark/covered. For a New Family to Know: Bambi is described as friendly (sometimes), affectionate (when she wants to be), playful & quiet with medium-high activity level. When the owner is home Bambi follows them around or hides. She’s an indoor cat that sleeps around the home, eats dry & canned Purina cat chow 3x a day, uses an uncovered litter box with clumping litter within and scratches on the couch but she does have a round rope cat scratching post she uses sometimes. Intake Behavior: Bambi allowed one quick pet on the head, then she began hissing, growling, swatting & a quick charge. Due to these behaviors she was picked up with a towel which seemed to put her at ease and was placed into a kennel with ease. I was unable to collar her or take her picture on the back drop table as well.

EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Bambi remains crouched position, soft eyes, ears relaxed, forward by the front of the cage during approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Bambi becomes alert ached back, fur erect, eyes dilated. Reaction to touch: Bambi slowly sniffs then bats (claws not exposed) the assessor’s hand while her distance increases and hisses to stop the interaction. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Bambi is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She was stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
