Allowed all handling with minimal restraint, but did hiss, turn, and try to flee when tail picked up to confirm sex. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow
VOCAL: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Affectionate, Sweet
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:
Fearful – Bakas has displayed fearful behavior during their stay in the care center and may dislike certain types of handling. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide him with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Experienced cat parent – Bakas may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
Enrichment::
05/29/17:
Lying in litterbox with eyes alert and body relaxed, ears forward. Makes eye contact when spoken to and then looks away. Allows petting along his head and body, leaning in gently and licking his lips. He turns his head to watch my hand as I pass it along his back. Unsure after first day, but appreciates touch. Has potential to warm up. Sprayed feliway.
05/30/17:
Lying in litterbox with a low body and flat ears. He lifts his head and hisses as the bear-claw reaches towards him , then tolerates petting along his head and body with flat ears while licking his lips. Needs more time to adjust. Sprayed feliway.
