Meet Azul: This little cutie pie isn’t eating on his own and needs placement by 6pm tonight, 8/27. Azul is likely anemic from fleas and will require some supportive care. If you give Azul some TLC, he will thank you with lots of purrs and cuddles!

Microchip: negative, did not place due to age and health status
Sex: intact male
Age: appx 4w
Mentation: QAR but dull when not stimulated, dehydrated and presumed anemic (pale mm and heavy parasite burden)
Eyes: clear
Ears: clean
Nose: no d/c
Teeth: deciduous
If abnormal BCS: underweight 3/9
Skin: WNL
Hair Coat: heavy flea burden, washed in Dawn with warm water, picked fleas off with thumb forceps, too small for flea prevention
Declawed: no
Any injuries: no
Behavior: allows all handling but vocal
Medication: N/A, dewormer only, no vx due to compromised health; nutrical, heat support, and 2ml SQF

History: finder noticed one kitten in her yard for several days; on the third day the kitten appeared less energetic so she brought in to MACC; severe flea infestation on intake, was given 2 dawn baths overnight
Subjective: QDR
Observed Behavior – appears lethargic in cage, will rouse if stimulated; not eating on his own
Evidence of Cruelty seen – none
Evidence of Trauma seen – none

BCS 3/9
EENT: OU-clear; fur moist around nares-unsure if it is discharge or milk; no sneezing
Oral Exam: mm lgt pk, tacky; deciduous canines present, premolars erupting
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: HR 150, no murmurs/arrhythmias; eupnic, clear lung sounds
ABD: soft, nonpainful, doughy; dried diarrhea staining in fur around rectum
U/G: male intact
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, mild residual flea debris, moderate diffuse muscle wasting
CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: not performed

parvo test
gave 0.25 ml dextrose 50% on gums-noted to be more energetic afterwards
10 ml LRS SQ SID x 3 days
nutrical BID x 5 days
force feed q3-4h until eating independently
Prognosis: guarded to good
SURGERY: temp waiver due to underage/underweight
