Details on my behavior are…
Avena was crouched over mid-kennel, looking around with wide eyes on approach.
When spoken to Avena remains in place and sniffs around, curious.
When the kennel door is opened Avena becomes alert and shifts her body, ready to retreat into her other kennel space, but she remains in place.
Avena sniffs the assessor’s hand and appears unsure, but she allows gentle petting and lifts her rear when stroked along her lower back. She begins to warm up after a few strokes and seems to appreciate attention, but she still appears wary and may shift away with any sudden movement or noise.
Avena allows pick up, but is a bit tense when held
