11/28/16 20:09 basic information ava is a 3 year old female unaltered cat. She is being surrendered due to allergies in the house of owner.There are no injuries or health conerns owner is aware about. Socialization Around strangers, she is shy for days and hisses if they come near her. There are no children living in the house. She plays exuberant with adults and play behavior is unkown about children. There were no children or dogs living in the house. there is no bite history of a person or animal. Behavior client stated she scratches up furniture and hides in fear. There are no litterbox issues.Client has never given cat a bath, trimmed the nails. She is afraaid of brushing of coat. She struggles putting in carrier and picking up. For the new family to know She is described as shy, fearful, and talkative. her activity level is low. When owner is home he follows you around. he likes playing with balls and string. he was kept mostly indoors and eats dry food. She uses a uncovered litterbox with clay litter. She scratches on furniture. Behavior upon intake she fled when transferring into carrier. counselor could not collar.

Reaction to assessor: Ava looks tense, hiding in the cat den when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Ava remains in place, alert with eyes dilated. Reaction to touch: Ava avoids contact then hisses, spits, and growls at the assessor’s hand. Placement determination: NH ONLY Ava is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. She is stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
