AUGIE – A1109280
Safe - 4-28-2017 Brooklyn Rescue: Feline Rescue of SI Please honor your pledges: http://felinerescueofstatenisland.org/donation/
*** SAFE 04/28/17 *** Augie is a young cute kitty who’s a little out of his element here at BACC. He openly approached his finder and allowed some petting, and was described as sweet, friendly, playful, and easy to handle by medical staff! He has become more uncomfortable during his stay in the shelter environment, and would be happiest in an experienced, adult-only kitty home where he can warm up at his own pace.
Came in with DEE DEE & ELLIOT, all three listed tonight!!

04/21/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Augie was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Sweet friendly easy to handle playful 04/19/17 Lying in litterbox with low body and ears flattened. Makes eye contact when I speak to him and breathing accelerates. He backs away as I approach and hisses. He hisses again when I attempt to pet him on the head with the bear-claw, raising his paw and quickly retreating to the other side of the kennel. Needs more time to adjust. Sprayed feliway. 04/20/17 Lying crouched in litterbox, looking around the room when I approach. He looks at me as I speak to him and then looks back towards the room behind me. Aware of his surroundings. He backs away as I reach out towards him and tolerates petting along his head and body, ears flattening and eyes growing wide as he backs away. Appears to be ear-tipped. Still unsure – needs time to adjust. Sprayed feliway. 04/21/17 Crouched in the back of the kennel, facing the wall. Slowly turns towards me when spoken to softly. Ears rotate, alert. Doesn’t move or come forward when coaxed. Seems stressed. He flinches & leans away when the assessor extended his hand out. He tolerates petting but seems uncomfortable and is constantly shifting his weight attempting to avoid contact. Lip licks throughout interaction. Sprayed feliway ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced, adult home only – Augie tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
