***SAFE 09/16/16 *** ADORABLE ATTICUS!!…..A staff member writes: Hi! My name is Atticus and I am a secret love bug. I don’t always show everyone that side of me initially, because not everyone is worthy. I can’t just go handing out trust to everyone! But I’ll let you in on a little secret. If I show my shy guy act, just go slow. Let me sniff you a little (I can usually tell when someone is cool people just by their scent. Yeah, I’m awesome that way). Once I know you’re an awesome person, oOooOh I will give you my all! I will love you so much, be prepared to have my chubby cute cheeks all over ya! Take your time with me and I’ll give you all of mine. Love, Atticus……DON’T WAIT….THE ACC WON’T TOMORROW…..If you need help applying to FOSTER or ADOPT email us at [email protected]

08/20/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
8/20/16 14:20 Atticus A1086397 is a roughly 1 year old male cat who was dropped off at the finder’s home 3wks in the Bronx because the person thought the person surrendering her would want to keep him. They aren’t able/willing to keep Atticus any longer and stated they knew no one would who want to keep him. During her stay with them she was around other cats which she played and “hung out” with, ate wet & dry Friskies cat food 2-3x a day, used an uncovered litter box with clumping litter within and it wasn’t noticed if he scratched on any items in the home. During intake Atticus allowed all handling. He allowed to be scanned (-), collared and taken pictures of. She was very interested in the smell/scent of the back drop table and wouldn’t stop smelling it to look up at the camera but she also attempted to jump off the table a few times.

08/23/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
The finder stated during his stay with them he was around other cats which he played and “hung out” with. Reaction to assessor: Atticus looked tense, hiding under his cage bedding when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Atticus remained crouched down in place, alert with eyes wandering. Reaction to touch: Atticus looks around and seems hesitant at first, but warms up then leans into the assessor’s hand crouched standing with tail up. Placement determination: Experience Atticus tolerates attention and petting, but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. 9/8 update: Atticus has been in the care center for a few weeks and is beginning to show signs of stress in the busy adoptions room, sometimes retreating and hissing when approached. He remains highly human-social and affectionate when interacted with in calmer environments, but due to his stress level we recommend that he move into a stable home environment quickly.
