05/12/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Aton was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Initially allowed handling and examination, started hissing, growling and spitting, remainder of exam done in net ENRICHMENT NOTES: 05/10/17 Lying with a low body in litter box, eyes covered. Tolerates petting along head and body while shifting his weight. Needs more time to adjust. 05/11/17 Lying with a low body in back of kennel. He looks around the room as I approach and comes forward to smell my hand. Tolerates petting along head and body while squinting eyes and pulling his head back. Not interested in treats today. Needs more time to adjust. 05/12/17 Was relaxed at the back, lying down on his blanket. Rises up and inches away. Vocalizes, seems uncertain. Low body posture, tail wrapped along body. Leans away and squints when I extended my hand out. Tolerates petting for a short period of time before shifting away. The end of his tail starts to twitch and his eyes dart around the kennel. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced, adult home only – Aton tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
