SAFE 4/7/17 **Cute Kitten With Pelvic Fracture NEEDS YOU! Adorable ATLAS at BACC!**
Atlas A1107671 – 6 month female black/white kitten, stray:
Police were able to approach Atlas, pick her up and bring to our facility without any issues.
Behavior during intake: Atlas has a soft and loose body and was at the front of the carrier during intake. Counselor was able to scan for a mc, collar and take a picture without any issues. Atlas solicited attention by rubbing against counselors hand and purring.
Scan :did not scan
S:hx of pelvic fx, motior for u/d.
O:alert, meowing in enclosure
A:no stool in the enclosure
P:start on stool softner
Monitor cat with pelvic fracture.
S/O: BARH. mm=lt pink, moist, CRT<2 s. No urination/defectaion overnight but was not provided food or water due to sedation.
EENT: No oculonasal discharge, no sneezing.
H/L: Won’t allow good auscultation. RR=24, no dyspnea.
ABD: Unable to palpate – becomes fractious.
MS: Amb x 2 with forelimbs, will not bear weight on hind limbs but retains voluntary movement of both hind legs.
INTEG: Dirty haircoat. No wounds evident.
A: Reviewed radigraphs from 4/2/17 – left sacroiliac and left ischiac fractures with mild displacement. Clinically stable on PE today.
P: Offered food and water – started eating immediately.
Continue buprenorphine as planned. Continue to monitor ability to urinate/defecate on her own.
Fair prognosis with appropriate management and if no nerve injury. Ideally would have surgical fixation of fractures, but may have adequate healing with cage rest x 4-6 weeks.

Subjective: Having trouble using the hind limbs. Painful
Observed Behavior – Fractious
Evidence of Cruelty seen – None
Evidence of Trauma seen – None
T = Not taken P = 160 bpm R = 28 bpm BCS 5/9
EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat
CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: Not performed
Diagnosis- Broken left side of the pelvis
Assessment- broken pelvis
Medical Behavior Status- tyellow
Medical Status- 3 nc
Asilomar Status- treatrehab
Fast Track- no
0.1 ml telazol Im for fracture
0.25 ml onsior sq
pyrantel on food
0.2 ml puprenorphine PO BID for 7 days.
Waived for surgery
Prognosis is fair
