Ashton came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Ashton was nervous. Reaction to assessor: Ashton is sitting in her cage, body neutral. Reaction when softly spoken to: Ashton looks at the assessor with wide eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Ashton tenses, but remains still. Reaction to touch: Ashton leans into petting and begins to purr, appreciates petting all over body. Reaction to pick up: Ashton is uncomfortable with this type of handling. Placement Determination: Average Ashton does not approach the assessor and appears nervous at first, but appreciates petting and allows handling. Ashton is exhibiting behavior suited to average cat parents.
