***SAFE 08/30/17*** 12 YEAR OLD ASHES IS A SOCIAL, TIMID, CHATTY BUT SWEET FIV POSITIVE CAT WHO IS A RETURN TO THE SHELTER!! Super senior kitty ASHES aka ASH needs a retirement home to live out his golden years! ASHES is unsure of his surroundings and nervous but he did nuzzle the assessor after gentle petting. Besides being FIV positive, he has dental issues and some nuclear sclerosis in the eyes. He is already neutered and hoping to find a home tonight. CAN YOU GIVE THIS HANDSOME BOY A PLACE TO CALL HOME? 08/18/17 14:55 Ash came in as a stray so his history is unknown. Ash was a little wary with the counselor, but allowed her to pet him and transfer carriers. He allowed for her to put a collar on and went into the carrier with food, he was very hungry.

KNOWN HISTORY: Ashes was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on his behavior in his previous home. He was wary of the counselor during intake, but he allowed them to pet him and transfer him to another carrier. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – hissed and tried to scratch in cage. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage recently cleaned Reaction to assessor: Ashes approaches the front, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Ashes looks at the assessor and rubs against cage furnishings. Reaction to cage door opening: Ashes slowly retreats to the back. Reaction to touch: Ashes sniffs the assessor’s hand and was a bit hesitant, but allows gentle petting and starts to nuzzle against the assessor. He stress meows and shifts away with any quick movements, but remains sweet when interacted with slowly. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Somewhat chatty CHARACTER TYPE: Social, Timid, Sweet RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parents – Ashes tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
