Hx: Ear mites, on tx. S: Alert, quiet in kennel O: Mild serous ocular discharge, mild serous nasal discharge A: URI – likely viral P: Move to isolation. Start Cerenia 8 mg PO SID x4 days. No antibiotics at this time due to likelihood of viral disease but monitor for progression of clinical signs. 1088

KNOWN HISTORY:: Ashes was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: 1/3/18 Observed Behavior -allows exam, quiet
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 1/4/18 Curled up in litter box, alert, looking around, tense posture. Sat up when door opened. Initially leaned away from touch, had to sniff hand for a while before allowing and eventually leaning into pets. Lay down again after door closed, slow blinked. 1/7/18 Resting in litter box, soft eyes and body, looking around. Came out to main compartment for treats. Stayed when done, started eating dry food. Chatty today! Stood and started meowing when door opened. Leaned into pets, reared back on hind legs to head-butt my hand.
Cage Condition:: No change
Reaction to assessor:: Ashes remains neutral, crouched position on his cage bedding during the approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Ashes becomes alert with soft eyes.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Ashes remains immobile in place.
Reaction to touch:: Ashes seems hesitant, but stands with tail up while slowly engaging the assessor’s hand then leans into the strokes and purrs.
Reaction to being picked up:: He becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage.
