SAFE 11/1/17 BEEN AT SHELTER FOR ONE MONTH NOW!! ASA is a lovely cat who seeks attention. Her previous owner was unable to keep her due to too many animals in the house.

Asa’s previous owner reports she is friendly with strangers that approach. Sometimes it might take a few minutes to get comfortable with people. She has not been around children or dogs before, but she lived in a house with 10 other cats and was very friendly with them. She was described as friendly, mellow and playful. She enjoys playing with stuffed toys and string. She is an indoor cat and tends to sleep anywhere he is comfortable. She is very litter box trained and never has accidents outside of it.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:
Observed Behavior – very sweet but tense and nervous. Easily handleable. Did well for all medical handling and procedures

Asa was lying down, calm and relaxed.
Reaction when softly spoken to:
Asa looks at the assessor and sniffs in place.
Reaction to cage door opening:
Asa remains calm and relaxed.
Reaction to touch:
Asa sniffs the assessor’s hand and was hesitant of touch, but she head-butts lightly as soon as she’s touched. She leans in for cheek rubs and lifts her rear straight up when pet on her lower back, and then she starts to knead.
Reaction to being picked up:
Asa remains calm and purrs when held.

History: intake 10/3-dental disease, overweight, severe dental disease, otherwise apparently healthy. Decreased appetite noted 10/17-given LRS, cerenia, mirtazapine, and simbadol. On recheck 10/19 appetite had improved.
S: QAR. Wet food possibly had a few bites missing and dry food untouched. Reported to have decreased appetite. No c/s/v/d. Seems very nervous in kennel.

EENT: No nasal or ocular d/c
