ART – A1082738
Safe - 8-6-2016 Staten Island
***SAFE 08/06/16***ART is a black female cat who was brought into the shelter as a stray. This cutie is only 1 year old. She was pregnant at the time, and her unborn kittens were aborted and she was spayed at the shelter. Barely out of kittenhood herself, this small furry friend will sadly lose her life tomorrow, if she’s not rescued today! ART is hiding in her den, and is fearful. She will need lots of patience and TLC so she can come out of her shell and trust. This adorable girl with the sad eyes is young and full of potential! Don’t let her lose her life tomorrow. She can be rescued through New Hope Rescue. ART would make a wonderful success story. If you’d like to help this sweet young thing, please contact [email protected]!!!

07/28/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Art came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Art was nervous and did not allow handling. Reaction to assessor: Art is hiding in her den. Reaction when softly spoken to: Art becomes tense and continues to hide. Reaction to cage door opening: Art attempts to flee. Reaction to touch: When touched with an object, Art tries to bite. Placement Determination: New Hope Only Art is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. Art is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time. Please be advised that Art is pregnant at the time of assessment, and the behavior presented at the time of evaluation may differ when pregnancy is complete due to a change in hormonal balance.
