Hello, my name is Arctic. My animal id is #11142. I am a desexed male gray tabby cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 2 years 1 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 29-Oct-2017.
Arctic is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection which is contagious to other cats. arctic will likely require in home care with a course of antibiotics. There are no known behavior concerns for Arctic at this time (average determination).

[DVM Intake] DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 2yo Microchip noted on Intake? neg History : stray Subjective: BARH, curious, nervous but well behaved during PE, minimal handling and restraint worked well Observed Behavior – Evidence of Cruelty seen – n Evidence of Trauma seen – n Objective T = P = wnl R = eup BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: neg oral, mild gingivitis PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: intact male , 2 testicles MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, dirty and soiled hair coat (p defecated and urinated in carrier) CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: normal externally Assessment: approx. 2yo MI DSH apparently healthy Prognosis: excellent Plan: plan for neuter SURGERY: Okay for surgery

S/O -QAR -sneezing, mild nasopharyngeal congestion with intermittent open mouth breathing -mm pk, sl tacky; mild hypersalivating -appears eupnic A URI P move to isolation doxycycline 50 mg/ml: 1 ml PO SID x 10 days cerenia 0.5 ml SQ SID x 3 days nebulize BID x 3 days
Pre-surgical exam, anesthesia, and surgery performed by ASPCA. Green linear tattoo placed lateral to incision.

Behavior Condition: 2. Blue
Upon intake, Arctic was purring and rubbing head against counselor’s hand. Arctic allowed all handling.
KNOWN HISTORY:: Arctic was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Subjective: BARH, curious, nervous but well behaved during PE, minimal handling and restraint worked well
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: Resting on bedding, head up and alert, but soft eyes and body. Lay in place when door opened. Leaned into pets, purred, then became distracted by treats.
Cage Condition:: No change
Reaction to assessor:: Arctic immediately comes soliciting at the front of the cage.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Arctic remains soft in place.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Arctic remains standing at the front of the cage, relaxed body posture, soliciting attention.
Reaction to touch:: Arctic head-butts the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body.
Reaction to being picked up:: Allows the pickup and remains calm.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Lively
VOCAL:: Somewhat chatty
CHARACTER TYPE: : Social,Sweet,Affectionate
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Beginner
Behavior Asilomar: H – Healthy
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Arctic interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.
