KNOWN HISTORY: Apple Jacks was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on his behavior in his previous home. He was very timid during intake and attempted to flee. He hissed when the counselor picked him up and struggled when trying to place him inside a carrier. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – scared, tries to sneak away. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Apple Jacks was lying down, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Apple Jacks looks at the assessor, but then turns away and closes his eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Apple Jacks rolls over on his back and remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Apple Jacks head-butts and nudges the assessor’s hand with his nose. He leans in for cheek rubs and begins to purr. Reaction to being picked up: Apple Jacks remains calm and allows handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy initially, Sweet, Calm BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Apple Jacks interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for cat parents with an average amount of experience.
