09/04/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Apple was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. His finder was able to catch him and reports he has been living in the neighborhood with many other cats. He was tense around people and appeared ill. He was also nervous during his initial medical exam, but allowed handling to be conducted. Reaction to assessor: Apple was lying down by the back, resting. Reaction when softly spoken to: Apple looks at the assessor and blinks softly. Reaction to cage door opening: Apple remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Apple was hesitant of touch, but allows gentle petting on his head and body and slowly warms up. He lifts his rear and leans in for cheek rubs, but is tense and wraps his tail closely to his body. Reaction to being picked up: Apple is tense during pick up, but remains calm when held. Behavior Determination: Experience Apple tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
