11/20/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Annie’s previous owner reports she has lived with children and dogs, both small breed and large breed. She tends to cuddle with the owner at night, but is fearful of strangers and will attempt to flee. She was hissing during her initial medical exam, attempting to flee from handling. Reaction to assessor: Annie becomes stiff and alert upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Annie looks around and is wide-eyed, but her eyes soften afterwards and she averts her gaze. Reaction to cage door opening: Annie lowers her body and is tense. Reaction to touch: Annie sniffs the assessor’s hand and was hesitant of contact, but she allows petting and lies down. She appeared wary of her surroundings, but didn’t seem to mind petting and attention. Behavior Determination: Experienced Annie tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
