I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 07/26/2017 from NY 10456, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

A1119829 Andy – Adult only determination; Andy displays fearful behavior in the shelter and keeps a low body posture when approached for interaction. She shows discomfort when pet, but warmed up very slightly after some time. She does not appear to be thriving in this environment and seems wary.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 7/26/17- Subjective: Flattened to the back of the kennel, eyes dilated. Growling and hissing during limited exam. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 7/27/17 Curled up at back of cubby, eyes dilated, alert. Sat up when door opened, tense, started lip licking. Leaned away and pressed against back wall when pet. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Andy remains tense, tucked limbs at the back of the cage during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Andy tightly curls up in place, alert with an intense gaze. Reaction to touch: Andy distance increases while she allows the touch, but seems very uncomfortable with the interaction. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Andy may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
