AMBER – A1069605

***SAFE 04/15/2016*** BRONX BEAUTY AMBER IS PROBABLY PREGNANT AND HER FINDER THOUGHT THE BEST THING TO DO WAS BRING TO HER THE ACC!! WRONG!! AMBER is a sleek ebony pantherette who is only about 2 years old. Someone in the Bronx noticed that she seemed pregnant and was not interacting with all the male strays in the area so she decided it would be a good deed to deposit this girl at the ACC. Sadly, she does not know what happens most of the time to any stray, let alone a pregnant one. AMBER is frightened to say the least, but did allow handling. She does not like her abdomen being squeezed and grumbled about that and is naturally hiding in her cage and not wanting to be touched. She got an EXPNOCHILD rating which is enough to get her listed tonight. AMBER needs a nice quiet home with an understanding adopter or foster who will give her time to relax and come out of her shell on her own terms. She is not aggressive, just timid and that may be due to being pregnant. GIVE AMBER A CHANCE TONIGHT FOR A HAPPY ENDING TO HER STORY. OFFER TO FOSTER OR ADOPT HER NOW. EMAIL THE HELP DESK AT [email protected] FOR RESCUE CONTACT INFO.

04/10/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Amber was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. The finder feeds her and other cats outside and decided to bring her to the care center. She attempted to flee when exiting her carrier upon intake, but she allowed the counselor to place her into a kennel and handle her. She became tense and would start to growl during her initial medical exam when her abdomen was being palpated. Reaction to assessor: Amber was stiff inside her hidey den. Reaction when softly spoken to: Amber does not respond and appears wary of the environment. Reaction to cage door opening: Amber remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Amber hisses and retreats from the assessor’s hand. She allows gentle petting, but begins to lip lick and growl. She appears very uncomfortable. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Amber tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
